Overview
Are you passionate about student life and the power of students coming together around shared interests, identities and causes? Are you looking for a graduate or placement opportunity where you can develop your skills while making a real difference to the student experience?
Leeds Beckett Students' Union is looking for a Community Development Assistant to support our vibrant and diverse student groups. This role is ideal for a recent Leeds Beckett graduate or a current student looking to undertake a full-time placement and gain hands-on experience in a student-led organisation.
In this role, you'll be right at the heart of campus life. You'll work closely with student group leaders, helping them navigate Students' Union processes, build confidence in their roles and deliver activities that bring students together. Whether you're answering queries, supporting training sessions, helping societies prepare for Freshers' Fair or assisting with events, you'll play an important role in creating welcoming and inclusive student communities.
You'll also support the delivery of our Community Organising programme, developing intentional relationships with student leaders and helping remove barriers to participation. Working alongside the Community Development Manager, you'll contribute to a supportive environment where students feel empowered to get involved, connect with others and shape their own communities.
This is a great opportunity for someone who has been involved in student groups or similar activities, enjoys working with people, and is organised, friendly and keen to learn. No two days will be the same, and you'll gain valuable experience across administration, engagement, events and community development.
We pride ourselves on being a compassionate employer that takes staff wellbeing seriously. Our most recent survey results show that more than 93% of staff at LBSU would recommend our organisation as a great, flexible place to work that provides a healthy work-life balance.
